Download the Beta Version of Desktop App

Before we release a new version of our Close desktop app on both Mac and Windows, we put the app in a beta period to make sure everything is running smoothly. This guide will show you how to access the Close desktop app beta channel to help us test out new versions of the app before they're released to the public.

Before following these instructions, make sure you have the Close desktop app installed on your computer.

Download the Beta Version on Mac

1. Open the Close desktop app.

2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Comma to toggle a menu that says "Develop" on the top menu bar.

   

   
   

3. Click on the "Develop" menu, and make sure the "Use Beta Version" option is checked. This will put you on the beta channel.

   

   
   

4. Click on the "Close" menu, and then click "Check for Updates...".

   

   
   

5. If a new beta version is available, it will begin downloading. You'll receive a notification when the download finishes.

6. Once the download finishes, restart Close, and you'll be on the beta version.

Download the Beta Version on Windows

1. Open the Close desktop app.

2. Press the "Alt" key to bring up the top menu bar.

3. Press Ctrl + Shift + Comma to toggle a menu that says "Develop" on the top menu bar.

   

   
   

4. Click on the "Develop" menu, and make sure the "Use Beta Version" option is checked. This will put you on the beta channel.

   

   
   

5. Click on the "File" menu, and then click "Check for Updates...".

   

6. If a new beta version is available, it will begin downloading. You'll receive a notification when the download finishes.

7. Once the download finishes, restart Close, and you'll be on the beta version.

How to go back to the stable (non-beta) version of Close

If for any reason you need to revert back to the non-beta version of Close:

1. If you don't see the "Develop" menu on the top menu bar, press Ctrl + Shift + Comma to bring it up.
2. Click on the "Develop" menu and make sure that "Use Beta Version" is unchecked.
3. Exit and uninstall the Close desktop app.
4. Reinstall the Close desktop app.
